COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Update
Tuesday, January 5, 2021

Dear Owners, Shoppers and Community,

In the last 24-hours we have learned that one staff member at Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We are following all recommended guidelines from public health authorities, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and city, county, and state public health departments. The staff member last worked on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021.

Guidance from public health authorities is that individuals who were in close contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 should self-quarantine and as such, we have asked staff members that were in close contact to the individual to do so. People’s provides employees who are requested to self-quarantine up to 14 days of quarantine pay, and we are working with employees on a case-by-case basis to ensure they have the support they need.

Further guidance from public health officials required us to deep clean and sanitize anywhere that the affected individual may have worked, taken a break or had a presence while working. All deep cleaning and sanitizing that took place was done following specific instruction from public health authorities to ensure the safety of staff who were tasked with the deep cleaning and sanitizing.

People’s will continue to follow a rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocol and we are taking multiple steps to best serve you, care for our staff, and be a responsible member of our community. If you would like more information, please contact People’s Interim General Manager, Sarela Bonilla at (619) 224-1387 or email Storemanager@obpeoplesfood.coop

All deep cleaning and sanitizing that took place was done following specific instruction from public health authorities to ensure the safety of staff who were tasked with the deep cleaning and sanitizing.

At People’s, we have asked any staff exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness or fever to stay home, contact our HR department, and notify their physician. At the beginning of their shift, staff have their temperature checked and fill out a COVID-19 symptom questionnaire, and will be sent home if they exhibit any symptoms that could potentially be related to COVID-19

People’s will continue to follow a rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocol and we are taking multiple steps to best serve you, care for our staff, and be a responsible member of our community.
